Obituary for Edward Vincent Bonsignore
Edward Bonsignore, 74, of Carmel, NY, passed away on Monday, January 2nd, after a long battle with cancer.
Edward was born on April 16,1948 to Lillian (née Praskala) and Salvatore Bonsignore in Patterson, NJ. After Ed graduated from Don Bosco Preparatory High School in 1966, he enlisted in the Navy in August 1968.
After being honorably discharged in July 1972, Ed utilized his naval experience and training to become a long time employee of Sikorsky Aircraft/ United Technologies.
On February 14, 1976, Ed married Barbara (née Coppola). Ed and Barbara share three children, Diana, James and Janine.
In 2007, Ed retired before being recalled as a consultant by United Technologies to train and educate employees at a new facility in Elmira, NY. Once he retired, Ed shared his love of DooWop and classic cars with others. He also enjoyed traveling to vacation spots with his family.
Edward was predeceased by his father Salvatore (April 1991) and mother Lillian (January 2010). He is survived by his older brother Paul, wife Barbara, children Diana Stapleton, James Capuano, Janine Joscelyn, son in law Thomas and six grandchildren- Joseph Stapleton; Luciano, Vincenzo and Santino Capuano and Lillian and Amelia Joscelyn.
In lieu of flowers a charitable donation can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Edward’s name.
