Obituary for Lois C. Kirby

Lois Carol Kirby, 81, a resident of Carmel, New York, entered Heaven on May 29, 2022. Her family and friends mourn her loss but celebrate that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and they will be with her again one day.

Lois was born to Noreen (Galloway) and Marcel Schneider on December 9, 1940. While growing up in North Tarrytown, she attended the First Baptist Church (FBC) where she met the love of her life and husband of 61 years, Richard Bruce Kirby.

While proudly raising her three children, she worked part-time as the FBC church secretary. She went on to work at Sleepy Hollow High School and eventually became the secretary to the principal, which she enjoyed until she retired in 2003.

Lois was a devout Christian who deeply loved the Lord and desired all to come to the knowledge of Him. She especially enjoyed studying Scripture and was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. Her other interests included her family, knitting, reading, gardening, baking, any kind of arts and crafts, having long conversations with family and friends, traveling – especially going on cruises with Richard, and vacationing in Rangeley, Maine and Cocoa Beach, Florida. She was beautiful inside and out and everyone loved her and appreciated her words of wisdom.

She is survived by her loving husband Richard Kirby, her children and their spouses Gary and Monica Kirby, Beth Cohen, and Jennifer and Charles Agro, as well as her six grandchildren: Alyssa and Liam Barry, Morgan, Jason and Dylan Cohen, and Melissa and Lara Agro.

A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Red Mills Baptist Church in Mahopac, New York. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make donations in memory of Lois Kirby to the Red Mills Baptist Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
