Condolence: Valerie has a special place in my heart. When I went to work in New York, she and her sister lived a few blocks away in Flatbush, Brooklyn. I met up with her sister Jean first and we got on like a house on fire within minutes. I spent every weekend with them, being shown all the amazing bits of New York (Greenwich Village bars, concerts in Times Square) and having epic fun with them. When I walked out of my nannying job they took me in for 3 weeks. They also put me up next year for a holiday. Jean and Valerie came to visit me twice in Edinburgh! Once with their mum! I spent Thanksgiving with their family, which is so generous and lovely.

I spent some of the best times of my life with Valerie. She was warm, witty, real, strong, intellgent and brave.

Condolence: I'm another livejournal friend of Val's. I can't believe I'll never get a read another new story of hers or her hilarious descriptions of everyday life. She will not be forgotten.

Condolence: I am so heartbroken for you and your beautiful family. I can not imagine how difficult this is for you. I wish I could be there to stand by you. My prayers and thoughts are with you and yours. Good Bless you and yours.

Condolence: Tribute for Valarie Ann Lewis. Tina, When I think of you and your family, I always think and feel warmth and laughther. I am truly sorry for such a loss.

Condolence: I only met Valerie a few times, but I felt close to her. I feel so bad for my son, Craig, and for her family to lose someone so young.

Condolence: Val had friends from all around the world. I'm one of these friends. I knew her for many years from live journal. I loved her stories about her life, her family, her students. She had a unique way to tell these stories. I believe she's in a better place now. God bless her and all her family and friends. Hugs from Brazil.

Condolence: My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Tina, Jean and their families. Val was a beautiful young accomplished woman that we knew mainly in her younger years but we are so thankful for social networking like FB where we were able to keep in touch with the family and watch them grow. It is so sad for us here on earth to lose her but now a single star in heaven will shine a little brighter with a beautiful new angel among them.

Condolence: Working with Laramore Black and Valerie to publish her short story on SYW, I was able to speak with Valerie briefly. I am thankful to have worked with such a talented and generous person.

Condolence: I met Valerie when I was 5yrs old in dance class, she was my first best friend. We took piano lessons, were in brownies and took great joy in picking on her sister. Valerie and I had many good laughts and times together- trying out for talent show, girl scout camp, and many others.
